The additions come as the venture-capital industry as a whole has been winnowing its ranks following a decade of lackluster returns. Many firms have closed their doors or been unable to raise big new funds. According to the National Venture Capital Association, there were 6,828 investment professionals in venture capital as of the end of 2009, down from 8,892 in 2007.
